What are Parking Integrations?
Parking integrations allow CommuteHub to connect with your existing systems to either receive or send data — creating a more seamless and automated parking experience.
If you're new to the topic, we recommend starting with our Integration Intro article, which provides a general overview of how integrations work across CommuteHub — including examples like Strava, Token Transit, or Scoop that focus on mobility tracking and commuter engagement.
Parking integrations, however, are different. They focus specifically on connecting to physical infrastructure and operational systems such as access control, gates, license plate recognition, or payment processes.
In simple terms, these integrations allow systems to “talk to each other,” so that parking access, payments, and usage tracking can happen automatically in the background.
Most organizations already have some form of infrastructure in place — and CommuteHub is designed to work with and enhance those systems, not replace them.
Types of Integrations
There are two main types of integrations:
1. Data Input (Gathering Data)
These integrations bring information into CommuteHub.
Common examples include:
-
License Plate Recognition (LPR)
Vehicles are automatically identified when entering a facility -
Badge / Card Swipe Systems
Employees are recognized when they scan their badge
This allows users to be verified instantly, without manual check-ins.
2. Data Output (Sending Data)
These integrations allow CommuteHub to trigger actions in other systems.
Examples include:
-
Gate / Barrier Systems
→ Gates open automatically if a user has valid access -
Payroll Systems
→ Parking costs can be automatically deducted -
Access Control Systems
→ Only authorized users can enter specific areas
What This Enables
By connecting systems, integrations unlock a range of benefits:
-
Seamless user experience
No need for tickets, manual validation, or separate systems -
Automation
Access, payments, and permissions happen automatically -
Reduced administrative effort
Less manual work for parking and operations teams -
Improved compliance and control
Ensure only authorized users access specific parking areas
From Integration to Insight

While these capabilities are continuously developing, the goal is to create a smarter, more responsive system over time — similar to how tools like Google Maps help visualize patterns in demand and usage.
