RideAmigos supports the optional ability for users to specify trip types when logging trips, in addition to the usual options for trip modes.
Trip types allow you to gather more granular data for reporting purposes and, in some cases, limit eligible trips within your programs to certain trip types (see caveats below.)
This option is not enabled by default, but can be enabled on the system-wide level.
Default trip types include:
- Commute
- Errand
- Recreation
- School
- Other
A limited set of these types or additional custom types can be configured upon request.
Caveats
Default trip type is "commute." Historical trip logs will get the "commute" type and any trip logged using an interface or service that doesn't allow selecting a trip type.
Most trip logging integrations do not support selectable trip types. CommtueTracker, Scoop, and Waze trips do not allow selecting a trip type. All trips from these connected apps will be logged with the type "commute."
Trip type eligibility is not restrictable for incentives and point programs. Only Challenge programs allow filtering eligibility by trip type. When trip types are enabled, Challenges setup and edit pages feature a new field for selecting eligible trip types. You can select any combination of the types available on your system to qualify for your program. For example, one challenge could allow only commute trips, and another could allow all types. However incentives and point programs do not currently support restricting eligible trips to certain types. This feature will be available in the second half of 2020.
Trip types can not be changed after logging. Once a trip log has been saved the trip type cannot be edited. To save the trip with a different type it must be deleted and a new one created.
