Event Types and Permissions
The ability to create and share events can be configured based on your organization's program needs.
System owners can choose whether users, network managers, and advanced managers can access each of these different options for event creation and management.
Descriptions of each type of event are below, followed by examples of how your system could be configured:
Public Events
Public events are visible by anyone using your system.
When public event creation is enabled for basic users all network managers of that user can view and edit the event.
When public event creation is enabled for network managers at least one managing network must be set. All users with permission to manage that network can view and edit the event.
On sites where public event creation is limited to network or advanced managers, events created by users with lower permissions can be upgraded to public by a manager with higher permissions.
Events for Networks You've Joined
Let users create events for networks they belong to.
When joined-network event creation is enabled any user can create events visible by other users of a network they are both members of.
The network managers of any networks an event is shared with can view and edit the event.
(This setting requires public event creation to also be enabled for applicable user levels.)
Events for Networks You Manage
Create events for your network
Sharing events with a specific network limits who will be able to see it in the event discovery area.
Events created by network managers must have at least one managing network. All users with permission to manage that network can then view and edit the event.
Private Events
Share your event only through custom links
A private event never appears in the event discovery area and can only be viewed when a user has shared the event link or used the event embed code.
When private event creation is enabled for basic users all network managers of that user can view and edit the event.
