Blocking a user temporarily suspends their ability to sign in to their account. This feature is designed to help you manage situations where users behave inappropriately, attempt to cheat the system, violate platform policies, or otherwise fail to act in good faith.
Blocking is completely temporary and reversible. You can restore access at any time with just a click, making it a flexible and safe way to address issues without permanently removing accounts or losing valuable data. Think of blocking as a "pause" button rather than a permanent action.
Who Can Block Users
Only Admins and Managers have permission to block user accounts. This permission level requirement ensures that account access decisions are made by authorized team members who oversee platform management.
If you don't see the block option when viewing a user profile, check our article on Roles & Permissions or contact your Admin.
How to Block a User
Follow these steps to block a user account:
- Navigate to the New Management Dashboard
- Click Users→ User List
- Select the user you wish to block from the list
- The user's profile will open automatically in the Overview tab
- Scroll to the bottom of the profile page
-
Click Block User. (Optional) Add internal notes explaining why the account is being blocked
- Important: These notes are visible only to the RideAmigos team, not to the blocked user
What Happens After Blocking
Once you block a user, several things happen automatically:
- The user immediately loses access to their account and cannot sign in
- RideAmigos automatically sends an email to the user notifying them that their access has been temporarily blocked
- The email informs them that they can contact support if they believe the block was made in error
- You have the option to send an additional manual email with more specific details or next steps if needed
This ensures transparency while protecting your platform from policy violations.
How to Unblock a User
When the issue has been resolved and you're ready to restore access:
- Return to the user's profile in the Management Dashboard
- At the top of the page, click Unblock User
- The user immediately regains sign-in access and can use their account normally
The user will get an automated email telling them that the account access is restored.
It's that simple! No waiting period, no complicated process—just instant restoration of access.
