The RideAmigos Events tool provides the opportunity to create and manage specific events in your area, as well as give users the ability to show their interest in alternate transportation aside from their normal commute.
Use Events to plan for conferences, sporting events, or even small, friendly parties in your area. In addition to searching for event carpools and travel options there are a variety of ways to display and share your events, so check it out!
- Create an event (if allowed by your site's settings)
- View basic statistics of your own events
- Share a link directly to your event page
- Embed an event widget in your website
Create An Event
To create a new event, head to Events > Add New Event from the user menu.
You may also click "View Events" to see all the public events on your site, and if you've already created an event, they will appear here for you to manage.
Fill out the basic information section to provide details for your event and then move onto date & time before finishing with the event location and publishing options.
If you want to create your event but prevent users from seeing it yet, you can uncheck "publish this event?"
You may also be prompted to select which networks your event is shared with, depending on the settings of your site.
Public and network-shared events will appear on the View Events page until they are scheduled to start.
Private event listings are available only via their Event URL or an embedded widget (see below.)
If you have a multi-day or multi-occurrence event you can choose to hide the start date field, in which case start date will still dictate when the event is hidden in the View Events page. You will need to describe your events schedule in the description.
After you've chosen the appropriate settings for your event, all that's left to do is click, "Create Event"!
After you've created your event, you can go back to check on it by clicking the "Events" menu at the top of the page and selecting the event from the list of options.
Share Your Event
Head to the Share/Embed tab after saving your event for ways to share your event with a wider audience.
Each event has its own landing page URL you can share via social media, on your website, or anywhere you want to drive traffic to your event page.
Each event also has a unique embed-able widget you can use on your website to allow users to start searching for sustainable ways to get to your event. Just copy-paste the widget code into your website and it will add your event's dynamic content and trip planning tool!
